On Wednesday we reported that Zsa Zsa Gabor was having her leg amputated due to a spreading infection and today her reps have confirmed that the surgery has been completed and was a success.
According to reports, most of Zsa Zsa’s right leg was amputated, although doctors had hoped to save more of the limb before the infection spread at faster rates than expected.
After hip surgery in July Zsa Zsa had been admitted to the hospital on several occasions due to blood cots in her leg. It was one of those clots that led to a leg infection that lasted several months and could not be defeated using a regime of antibiotics, leading to the eventual amputation.
The amputation took place on Friday at the UCLA/Ronald Reagan Medical Center.
With a 50/50 chance of recovering the surgery was risky, however Zsa Zsa is said to be recovering nicely and is expected to do fine.
