Celebrity weddings are often the dream weddings of ordinary people. Apart from the wardrobe, the setting and decorations are what fans also take into account.
One of the main attractions in a celebrity wedding is the flower decoration including the bride’s bouquet. Flowers are an important part of this memorable occasion and although wedding planners may choose the ones to use for the decorations, the bride often has a say in choosing her bouquet.
So what kinds of flowers make it to a celebrity wedding? Here are some of the not-so-ordinary ones that have graced the most important event in the life of a star. They have also given inspiration to numerous weddings of average couples.
Roses
The roses never cease to be a top pick as a wedding flower particularly for celebrities. Not many people know that there are actually around 120 varieties of roses available. Among them are the Rosa Antike and Constance Spry. Whether you want to use just pure roses or mix it with other flowers, you can be sure to achieve a great looking bouquet. The peak season of roses are in spring, summer and autumn.
Celebrity Gabrielle Union’s bouquet featured all ivory white roses when she exchanged I do’s with basketball superstar Dwayne Wade. Actress Marisa Coughlan’s bridal bouquet also had roses mixed with dahlias, freesia and lisianthus. The rose and dahlia combination was also used in the low-standing table centerpieces during Hillary Duff’s wedding to Mike Comrie.
Ranunculus
The ranunculus flower features plenty of petals that are balanced on a curved stem and is in bloom during spring, summer and fall. It blends beautifully with most flowers whether you use the closed and open ones. A great way to use this in a wedding bouquet is to mix the open and closed ranunculus with the others.
The white ranunculus was used in the wedding bouquet of Jessica Biel when he married Justin Timberlake. It was also mixed with peonies, roses and sweet peas in the bridal bouquet of Jaime Dugan of “Survivor.”
Peonies
Peonies are one of the must-have flowers of celebrities. It is fragrant and comes in a variety of colors except blue. The only downside of this flower is its available only during a short period of Spring from April to June and you can find them in most states in the U.S. Imported peonies are also more expensive. Actress Drew Barrymore opted for the colored peonies mixed with garden roses during her wedding while Nicole Richie preferred an all-white peony bouquet.
Clematis
Clematis is a bell-shaped flower great for cascading bouquets and floral crowns. Its leaves can be included to add a touch of greenery. This flower is best paired with scabiosas, dusty miller, vines & spray roses.
Anemones
This may sound like a fish specie but this is also a flower from the Ranunculaceae family. The anemones are in full bloom from October through May so even if you get married during the winter season, you can still get it. What makes it so unique is its bluish-black center. It also has no scent hence, best for people with allergies and even as centerpiece for reception tables.
Amaryllis
The amaryllis is a winter flower because its peak season is during December through February. Also referred to as a Christmas bloom, it features a full silhouette. If you want a flowing bouquet, the amaryllis is best paired with jasmine vines, evergreen, narcissus and roses.
