Lilith Fair, the festival co-founded by Sarah McLachlan in 1997 is experiencing some major hardships, canceling 10 tour stops due to a lack of interest.
The 10 canceled shows amount to nearly 1/3 of the tours 33 dates. Featured artists include Carly Simon, Mary J Blige, Selena Gomez and other various artists. Tickets can cost up to $250 in some markets, a fact that hasn’t sat well with a “soft market” that’s still coming out of a recession.
The 2010 tour is the first time Lilith has occurred since 1999 and began in Calgary last week. The Calgary show saw only 9,000 people shuffle into a 35,000 person arena.
