Bend it Like Beckham, David Suffers Knee Injury

david-beckham-injured-3-6-07.jpgOops, well there goes an American career.  Soccer (football) legend David Beckham suffered a serious injury to his knee at a match on Sunday when the Real Madrid midfielder collided with an advertisement sign.

Beckham, who recently signed a $250 million contract with the Los Angeles Galaxy was hurt when he ran into a sign while playing a soccer game at home against Getafe.

The 31-year-old star tried to continue to play after the incident, but soon limped off the field much to the chagrin of his fans.  Apparently you should never bend it like Beckham, as David was diagnosed with damaging the “lateral internal ligament of his right leg” & will be undergoing further tests later this week to determine the extent of his injury.

“It looks serious but I do not want to say how bad until the doctors do the scan,” said Real Madrid Coach Fabio Capello.

Hmmm, maybe Capello is just a little vindictive since Beckham left Real Madrid before his contract was really over, I wonder if some accidentally may have placed that sign there for David to run in to, an maybe some Vaseline on the field to ensure that ole Beckham would never play soccer again.  Ahhh, conspiracy theories, don’t you love ’em?

Well, it looks like the Los Angeles Galaxy may have just paid top dollar for a benchwarmer.  What do you think?

America Welcomes the Beckhams with Wax

posh-spice-beckham-david-wax-1-25-07.jpgWith soccer legend 31-year-old David Beckham & his 32-year-old posh wife Victoria coming to America, the country has brought out the wax to welcome the English couple.  Waxen figures of the power couple were imported from London & unveiled Tuesday Madame Tussauds Wax Museum in New York City.

After David signed a five-year contract with the Los Angeles Galaxy soccer team, Victoria has been searching the L.A. area over for a suitable home for their family & it doesn’t look like Lionel Richie’s home was even close.

You know, I think these wax figures of the Beckhams look a whole heck of a lot better than the real thing, don’t ya think?
