George Clooney Enjoys Sash & Scepter on Today Show

George Clooney, who was awarded People‘s Sexiest Man Alive award, told David Letterman last week that the award entitles him to “a sash and a scepter.”

The Today Show took Clooney’s statement quite literally & awarded him a Sexiest Man Alive sash & crown.  I guess they couldn’t find a scepter last minute?  The show, which was taped Friday, is set to air today & George does his own bit of discussing in regards to his & pal Danny DeVito’s night on the town.

What do you think- Is George Clooney really the Sexiest Man Alive?  I’d go for cutest myself.

 

Britney Spears at the AMAs

Good old Brit tried to take everything in stride as the strides down the American Music Awards podium Tuesday.  Britney Spears presented Mary J. Blige the AMA for Favorite Female Soul / R & B Artist Award last night.

Spears came on stage right after AMA host Jimmy Kimmel completely trashed her estranged husband Kevin Federline in a hilarious comedy sketch, which deserved an award all its own.

Way to go, Brit.  Everything with a grain of salt, they say…

Jessica Alba Voted Most Favorite Substitute Teacher?

jessica-alba-substitute-teacher-11-16-2006.bmpIn a recent poll by the National Education Association (NEA), Sin City actress Jessica Alba was voted the celebrity most people would like to see substitute teach for a day.  Why on earth is the NEA wasting time on such a silly survey, one could ask?

Alba received about 46% of the vote; while Oprah Winfrey got 23%; Angelina Jolie at 14%; Will Smith came in at 12% & finally, tennis pro Andre Agassi at 4%. 

In reaction to her new accolade, Alba stated, “I’m available. That’s amazing. Why do they want me to be their substitute teacher?”

“That’s cool. There’d be lots of discussions if I was a substitute teacher. Lots of debating going on.”

NEA Reg Weaver said, “Just as actress Jessica Alba toiled long and hard before achieving stardom, substitute educators labor tirelessly — and often in relative anonymity — to provide every child with a quality public education.”

Right, so why did you do this silly survey, Weaver?

George Clooney Named People’s 2006 Sexiest Man Alive

george-clooney-sexiest-man-alive-11-15-2006.jpgIt looks like Brad Pitt might have some company.  Sexypants George Clooney has been named People’s Sexiest Man Alive for 2006, Clooney joins Pitt in the ranks of two-time winners of the skin-deep title.

What did the appearance-ridden actor have to say about his new accolade? 

 “Brad’s going to be upset,” Clooney stated.  “There’s a lot of pressure.  There are all the events you have to show up for. The sash you have to wear … is embarrassing.”

Giving more credence to the fact that Clooney is one of the coolest guys around, as he does not take this type of title very seriously.  Here are some snippets from People interview with the Hollywood stud.

On Wheter George Wants Kids:

“I think it’s the most responsible thing you can do, to have kids. It’s not something to be taken lightly. I don’t have that gene that people have to replicate. But everything in my life has changed over time.”

On George’s Vow to “Never Marry Again”:

“The truth is, I haven’t softened my position on anything, but it’s not something I deal with on a regular basis. Who knows? I’ve been married. It’s not something I’m looking out for. The truth is, I’m really happy.”

On What George Finds Attractive:

“Everybody says this, but sense of humor is No. 1 for me. It’s certainly what’s most attractive. It’s not the first thing you notice at 21, but it’s the first thing you notice now. You also have to have a sense of humor about my life. It certainly has had an effect on relationships, but I would bet less of an effect than my own issues or insecurities. You can’t really blame outside forces for things not working out. You have to take some responsibility.”

On the Tabloids:

“I usually don’t notice anymore. The funniest thing is that recently a story came out that I was with some girl from Deal or No Deal whom I had never even met.”

On His Famous On-Set Pranks:

“There were so many. It’s a constant battle of evil, rotten things.”

On Being Named the Sexiest Man Alive Twice:

“This one’s going to be hard for Brad since he’s been Sexiest Man Alive twice. He’s enjoyed that mantle. I’d say ‘Sexiest Man Alive’ to him and he’d go, ‘Two-time.’ So that’s been taken away. We used to call him Two Time. So Brad’s going to be upset.”

That hilarious, Clooney.  You gotta love ’em.

CMA Awards Coverage: Brooks & Dunn Take Home Three Awards

brooks-dunn-cma-awards-11-7-2006.jpgWell, it was a night filled with spectacle & entertainment as the 40th Annual Country Music Association Awards hit the stage Monday.  Kenny Chesney won the coveted entertainer of the year while Brooks & Dunn’s hit song Believe won three awards including Single of the Year & Song of the Year.

“This year has in ways been the most emotionally satisfying year and also the most emotionally draining year of my life,” Chesney stated.  Kenny was of course referring to his roller coaster ride marriage & high-profile split with Renee Zellweger last year.

“There have been so many ups and downs, it’s been like a huge emotional roller coaster ride,” Kenny went on to say.

One of the most moving events of the evening was when the Top Male Vocalist award was announced, and Keith Urban won the prestigious award.  Urban, who is currently in an alcohol rehabilitation center, received a standing ovation while his award was accepted by Ronnie Dunn.

Dunn read a letter to the crowd penned by Urban thanking his wife Nicole Kidman, “To my wife, Nicole, I love you.”

“I’m looking forward to coming home and seeing you all soon.”

Dunn smiled & said, “We love you Keith good luck, brother.”

Wow, you gotta love how the country starts do it up.  Congrats to all the winners!
