No fancy send-offs this time.
If you’re surprised about the news, Taran Killam is too.
“I don’t know the other side of it. You sign for seven years, so I had one more year. I had sort of had it in my head I would make this upcoming year my last year, but then heard they weren’t going to pick up my contract. I was never given a reason why, really,” the actor tells Uproxx.
This comes off E! News’ confirmation that he’s not returning for the next season, alongside co-star Jay Pharoah, which he himself guess to be caused by his directorial commitments on the upcoming Arnold Schwarzenegger comedy “Why We’re Killing Gunther.”
Joining the show on 2010, Killam can’t help but be a bit sappy ’bout it:
“It’s always hard and sad to say goodbye, but it feels like an appropriate time and I am so, so grateful to have been a cast member on Saturday Night Live.”
