Must every CGI and animated movie be in 3D? The answer is no! Although I enjoyed Alice In Wonderland and Avatar in three-dimensional representation of geometric data (geek!), I thought it was a complete waste of money when I saw Clash of the Titans in 3D last weekend.
The movie was an old-school reinterpretation of Percy Jackson and there were no memorable 3D moments. I should’ve watched it in 2D and splurged the extra money on popcorn and a large soda.
I realized that movie producers tend to go 3D for extra money. Not every movie looks better in 3D, people! The best way to judge is by taking a good look at the trailer. If there are no action-packed in-your-face scenes such as Final Destination: Death Trip, go 2D. If there are no OMG-it’s-like-I’m-high graphics such as Avatar, skip the glasses and watch the movie in normal mode.
I just saw the trailer for Disney’s upcoming Toy Story 3, and yes, it will be shown in 3D. My verdict: I’d purchase 2D tickets and save my money.
