Bart, Homer, Maggie, Lisa and Marge Simpson will be back on Fox for an unprecedented 23rd season of The Simpsons.
The critically acclaimed, Emmy-winning series will continue it’s run, providing at least a total of 515 episodes through 2012.
Fox announced the decision on Thursday and with still decent ratings it shouldn’t come as a surprise.
According to Simpson executive producer Al Jean:
“Like many 22-year-olds, ‘The Simpsons’ is extremely happy remaining at home, on Fox, and hopes it doesn’t have to go out into the real world for many years to come.”
He added: “Part of my job is being the grumpy guy who says, ‘No, we did that, we did that.’ Once you hit on something you haven’t done, we’ve got these great characters and voices and this terrific production that turns it into something really special.”
