Shelley Malil Gets Life In Prison For An Attempting To Kill His Ex-Girlfriend

Shelley Malil, best known for his role in Steve Carell’s hit flick The 40-Year-Old Virgin has been sentenced to life in prison with the possibility of parole after being found guilty of attempting to kill his ex-girlfriend.

Speaking to the court, Malil said:

“I want to do whatever I need to do to make sure I make right from the wrong that I did.”

It took a jury less than four hours in September to find Malil guilty of the crime in which he stabbed Kendra Beebe.

Malil claims he was disoriented after finding another male at his then ex-girlfriends home, he says he eventually started stabbing at a figure he believed was attempting to attack him. The jury didn’t buy his story.

’40-Year-Old Virgin’ Star Shelley Malil On Trial For Attempted Murder

Shelley Malil Attemped Murder

One of the stars of the hit comedy 40-Year-Old Virgin is on trial for the attempted murder of his ex-girlfriend. Shelley Malil allegedly stabbed his ex-girlfriend 23 times in August of 2008.

Shelley played Haziz in the 2005 comedy. During opening statements the prosecution painted a grim scene of the crime in which Malil allegedly caught Kendra Beebe drinking wine with another man on her back porch, the prosecution said:

“With the casual familiarity of a close friend Shelley Malil walked up to Kendra Beebe and stabbed her in the torso.”

After the other man wrestled away the knife, Malil went to the kitchen, grabbed another knife and continued stabbing her.
