Ernie Simms has been traded from the Detroit Lions to the Philadelphia Eagles in exchange for tight end Tony Scheffler.
Bleeding Green Nation had this to say about the Ernie Simms Trade:
Browsing some scouting reports on Sims I’ve noticed a few consensus points. For one, he’s a big hitter with good sideline to sideline speed. He’s a force in the running game and and has done well in zone coverage, but needs to improve his man to man coverage. Doesn’t force many turnovers. Many experts also feel he was miscast the in the Tampa 2 system run by Detroit.
The now 25 year old linebacker Ernie Sims played high school football, college football as a freshman at Florida State and began his NFL career when he was selected as ninth overall in the first round of the 2006 NFL Draft by the Detroit Lions where he played until it was announced that he was traded to the Philadelphia Eagles earlier today.
