Britney and Mel Gibson…on a date?

Britney looked pretty happy after her dinner date with Mel Gibson. The two of them were in a closed-door meeting at the Romanov Restaurant. Insiders say “they hit it of” and that “Britney seemed excited.” Is this part of her plans for a “new look, new life, new love?”

Though the Romanov restaurant is mostly known for its fine dining — can’t beat that 24-karat gold leaf ceiling — Britney came in casually dressed in jeans, and chewing bubble gum. Clearly not something you’d wear when trying to make a good impression, but after being in the tabloids for over a year, it’s not like Britney has anything left to hide.

So what did they talk about… and what did Mel Gibson think? Wait for the next chapter on the Amazing Adventures of Britney.

Britney’s “Break the Ice” premiere

Britney Spear’s new video “Break the Ice” will debut at 6:30 ET today — and fans get to join her.

The video will be released at BlackOutBall.com. Fans can get to join the online party, where an anime Britney will mingle. (Fortunately, this version of the pop star won’t get drunk, high, or flirt with any paparazzi.)

The clip itself was directed by Robert Hales, who also did the Gnarls Barkley’s “Crazy” video.

Our congratulations to the production company for thinking of a way to produce the video while the real Britney was having a nervous breakdown. We assume the animations were made while she was going in and out of the hospital, and gallivanting around town with paparazzi.

Oh, my. Britney Spears — who has about $100 million in assets — is stuck to a measly$1,500-a-week allowance which she has to get via a debit card.

What the hell? Okay, so her property’s under conservatorship, but what would merit cutting off her access to her own cash? (What — so her Dad can spend more of it?)

Well if that’s the case, Kevin’s got to shoulder some of the legal fees, her lawyer argues. After all, who can you hire with $1,500 a month?

Aaaah, she wouldn’t be Britney if one weird thing didn’t happen to her in a month. Now the pop star is being stalked. She’s received disturbing packages and letters, some of which contain gibberish, and strange references to Israel and the Middle East.

How terrifying Britney Spears could possibly make a big impact on international affairs or domestic security, we don’t know, but the FBI is getting involved.

First paparazzi, now terrorists. Who’s next — aliens?
