Smashing Pumpkins frontman Billy Corgan was performing at a show in Tampa Bay, Florida on Wednesday night when he suddenly blacked out on stage during a performance of his hit ‘Bullet With Butterfly Wings.’
Corgan later said via his Twitter account:
“That wasn’t a stage move or clumsiness, that was me blacking out and wiping out”
Corgan says he has no memory of the event, while adding “but I can tell you I’ve got quite a good bruise [and] am moving slow.”
Oddly, reviews of the show give no mention to the incident. For example Tampa Bay Times critic Jay Cridlin raved about the show calling it “an explosion of ear-gnarling, eye-searing rock ‘n’ roll.”
Corgan must be okay as the Pumpkins still plan to play on Friday night in Knoxville, Tennessee.
