Charlie Hunnam has just dropped out from 50 Shades of Grey, giving you the chance to assert your bets, fans!
The Pacific Rim hottie recently left the coveted role of BDSM fetishist Christian Grey this weekend, only two months after he was chosen to star the high-profile project with Dakota Johnson.
Though his reps cite the busy sched on the FX series Sons of Anarchy as the reason, the actual filming for the novel adaptation won’t be starting until the series finishes its sixth season production.
Reportedly, the 33-year-old had ‘creative differences’ with the studio when it came to the script. As a writer himself, he was compelled to give extensive pointers and revisions, which were received positively at first.
However, sources noted the increasing tension between him and director Sam Taylor-Johnson, brought on by this ‘intrusion’. To appease him, Notes on a Scandal director Patrick Marber was brought in for script rewrites, but it was already late as he announced his decision the following day.
Moreover, it didn’t help that Hunnam was only offered a measly $125,000 check for the plum role.
Universal is now hard at work on finding a worthy replacement – Jamie Dornan is the frontrunner – a thing they should do quickly so as to not stall its mid-2014 premiere.
Suggestions, anyone?
