Randy Quaid, best know for his role of Uncle Eddie in the National Lampoons series and his wife Evi were arrested on Saturday and charged in Santa Barbara, California court with squatting at a home they reportedly sold, but have living in for more than 10 years.
According to the police report, the Quaid’s were charged with a felony burglary charge. The couple were handcuffed and led away from the Montecito, California home when the property’s owner called police and said the couple were living there illegally.
Randy and his wife told police they have owned the home since the 1990’s, however the new owner showed that they bought the home from a man who purchased it from the Quaids in 2007.
After the arrest a contractor at the home showed police where the Quaids had caused $5000 in damage to the house.
The couple were also charged with entering a non-commercial building without consent, which is a misdemeanor, and with resisting arrest.
Bail for the couple was set at $50,000 for each. Perhaps they can take out a second mortgage. In the meantime, good job keeping up your Uncle Eddie persona Randy.
