Paul Reubens’ critically lauded Broadway rendition of “Pee Wee Herman” is coming to HBO in 2011.
HBO is scheduled to film the Broadway show in January with promises to air it before the end of winter.
The Broadway show, which critics have loved, comes 19 years after Reuben’s was arrested in a Florida adult theater for indecent exposure and 29 years after Reuben’s debuted the character in a Marty Callner directed special, Callner will also be in charge of the HBO special.
The new theatrical Pee Wee Herman show debuted at the Nokia Theater in Los Angeles last January and the show began a popular run at Stephen Sondheim Theater on Nov 11.
