Hollywood celebrities are the envy of many people as they live a lavish life and can buy the things they want. But like any other human, they also went through tough times during their younger years with many of them taking odd jobs you have never imagined them doing.
Becoming a celebrity does not happen overnight. Some people have to audition many times before getting approved for a role or wait for years. And so while they are still waiting for the right time to come, they also need to earn a living and find whatever jobs they can get into. Quite a number of them have work experience in the food industry.
Here are some of the not-so-usual jobs that your favorite celebrities had before they became popular. They’re a far cry from today’s flexible work, on demand work, on demand work platforms.
Delivery Man
Brad Pitt may be well known for his standout roles in several of his box office movies but not many know that he actually had odd jobs before he reached stardom. The actor had to take on different jobs after dropping out from college. He was in his senior year in college taking up a degree in journalism at the University of Missouri when he dropped out and moved to Los Angeles.
Pitt’s job then was a delivery man. He delivered refrigerators and even drove dancers around in a limousine. He was also a mascot for Pollo Loco and had to wear a chicken a suit and dance around.
Dustman
Ashton Kutcher also had to take on a low-paying job to support himself. Did you know that he was sweeping cereal dust at a General Mills factory? Yes he had to go through that experience after dropping out of college and while pursuing his modeling career. Kutcher was a biomedical engineering student at te University of Iowa when he decided to quit school.
Shoe Salesman
George Clooney during his teenage years wanted to become part of the Cincinnati Reds baseball team. Unfortunately, he failed to get a contract. Due to that setback, he then decided to get a college degree to pursue his desire to become a broadcast journalist. But that plan did not materialize either as Clooney dropped out of school. From there, he took a variety of odd jobs such as a shoe salesman and tobacco farm hand.
Telemarketer
Jennifer Aniston herself had to earn a living during her younger years. Before becoming popular as Rachel in the hit TV series “Friends,” she worked as a telemarketer. Other jobs she had were as a waitress and bike messenger.
Another actor who worked as a telemarketer before stardom was Johnny Depp. He was selling ballpoint pens and calling “people who don’t want you to call them.”
