Actress Nicollette Sheridan, whose character Edie was killed off the show Desperate Housewives last year, is suing director Marc Cherry for $20 million, alleging assault and battery, gender violence, and wrongful termination.
She claims that Marc was “behaving in an extremely abusive and aggressive manner toward the individuals who work on the show.” She cited one incident in 2008 where he took her aside and forcefully hit her with his hand across her face and head after she questioned him about something in the script.
According to the lawsuit, Marc would direct his abuse at other cast members, including Teri Hatcher, who tried reporting him to ABC executives. Marc reacted by telling Nicollette, “I hope Teri Hatcher gets hit by a car and dies.”
He would later ask Nicollette for forgiveness, but he lashed out at her again after she reported him to the bosses. Then she was informed that her character was being written off the show and that she was being fired.
It’s a story that’s even juicier than a Desperate Housewives plot. Read the full story here.
