It’s a sad day for anyone who was hoping to land a spot on the hit Fox TV show Glee. Producers of the U.S. hit have called off their national open audition search for the shows next character.
Fox producers announced in March that they were looking for someone between the ages of 16-26 to appear on the show, stating that the winner would be featured during the second season of the show. The call for talent led to many Gleeks (Glee fans) to upload their video performances to MySpace while singing along to their favorite Glee covered tunes.
Auditions would have then been part of a reality type talent search series. Now Glee creator Ryan Murphy says a series extension would only oversaturate fans and hinder the success of the Glee brand.
It should be noted that producers have collected videos of auditions so there is a chance a hidden gem may be plucked out of the interwebs and cast on the show. Just let it be known if you get picked it’s a one-time cameo, you won’t be best friends with Will, Quinn, Finn, Rachel or the rest of the gang for very long, perhaps not at all if you’re cast for the competition 😉
