We’ve all seen Lindsay Lohan’s mug shots; it’s hard to keep track of which one goes with which arrest. In fact, there’s no shortage of celebrity mug shots out there. It’s pretty much a revolving door for Hollywood’s honeys getting arrested.
However, the rap sheets for some celebrities are a little more interesting — mostly because we wouldn’t have expected them to be anything but squeaky-clean.
1. Tim Allen
This comic revealed the details of his arrest in his autobiography. Fans of the show Home Improvement may have been surprised to discover that he had been jailed for selling cocaine in 1978. His time in prison was shortened because he gave up information on the dealers he knew.
2. Jane Fonda
This outspoken liberal and fitness guru has made a variety of exercise tapes, movies, and television shows. But in 1970, she was arrested at an airport for drug smuggling when pills were found in her bag. They were later discovered to be her own prescriptions and vitamins.
3. Danny Trejo
This San Quentin inmate-turned-actor has starred in many movies and TV shows, such as Sons of Anarchy, and he almost always plays the bad guy. He did 11 years of hard time for drug and robbery charges. After completing his time and a rehab program, he took to Hollywood. He asks for the bad guy roles so he can provide a role model for how NOT to do things.
4. Hugh Grant
This loveable English gent who starred in a series of chick-flicks and rom-coms was caught soliciting sex in Los Angeles in 1995. It was highly controversial and it also had a negative impact on his highly-publicized relationship with Elizabeth Hurley.
5. Matthew McConaughey
The Texas-born heartthrob has done all sorts of movies. He does some where he is barely dressed (Magic Mike, Fool’s Gold) and some where he portrays deep, emotional characters (The Lincoln Lawyer, We Are Marshall). He’s married now and has a kid but there’s a party-boy past. In 1999 this sex symbol was arrested after cops came to his house for a noise violation. He was nude, playing the bongos, and marijuana was found in the house.
6. Zsa Zsa Gabor
This elegant beauty and classic actress was arrested in 1989 for slapping a police officer (that’s bad – don’t do that). She was found driving an unregistered car without a license and she had an open liquor container to boot. At some point, she smacked the officer and that was that.
7. Al Pacino
Although Al has played many bad guys, when he was a young struggling actor he was arrested. In 1961, when he was 21 years old, he was arrested for having a concealed weapon. The case was later dropped because Pacino stated that the weapon was for an audition.
8. Bill Gates
Known as one of the smartest, richest, and most generous men in the world, Bill Gates has not one but two arrests under his belt. He was arrested in 1975 and 1977. The first was for speeding and driving without a license, and the second was in New Mexico for destroying private property with friends.
9. Frank Sinatra
This iconic singer was arrested at age 23 for “seduction”, but the charges were dropped because the woman was married (not sure how that’s relevant, but okay). He was then arrested for adultery, which was a bookable offense in 1938. Good thing for Kim Kardashian that the celebrity news can’t get people arrested for that anymore.
10. Rip Torn
This actor, who starred in Men In Black and Dodgeball, was arrested for breaking into a bank while high. He was released on bail but had to undergo alcohol rehabilitation; he stated, in his defense, that he thought the bank was his home.
