…at the recent Palm Springs International Festival is described by many as, well, drunken. See for yourself:
She won the Best Breakthrough Artist Award for her role as Ms. Weiss, a welfare caseworker in the urban drama Precious: Based on the Novel “Push” by Sapphire.
As presenter and Precious director Lee Daniels escorted her to the stage, she greeted him with a dance and a hug, after which she stumbled throughout her speech. “I have to say this is—and please forgive me because I’m a little bit, um… yeah. Oh my goodness,” she rambled in the beginning of her speech.
She tried to get to back to planet earth by talking about the people who made the movie possible, but she suddenly burst into an applause as she praised the director’s work.
I would love to focus on Mariah’s acting skills in Precious, which is a huge improvement from her Glitter days, but the video of her acceptance speech is just, well, precious. We still love you, Mariah!
