Lindsay Lohan was in court on Wednesday just long enough to enter a plea of “Not Guilty” to theft charges.
Owners of a Venice, California jewelry store say the former star stole a $2,500 piece of jewelry, while Lohan claims she was loaned the jewelry, yet only returned it after a search warrant was issued for her home.
Bail for Lohan was set at $40,000 and although released, Superior Court Judge Keith Schwartz said if found guilty it would be a violation of her DUI probation.
During the court case Judge Schwartz told Lohan:
“Let me just tell you a couple things so we have no misunderstandings… You’re in a different situation now that a felony’s been filed against you,” while adding, “You now have a pending felony case, so in the interim while this case is percolating… if you violate the law, I will remand you and set no bail and your attorney won’t be successful this time. Everyone in this room has to follow the law… you’re no different than anyone else, so please don’t push your luck, because I’m telling you… things will be different…”
Lohan will have a probation hearing on Feb. 22 and if she is found guilty in this case she could sit behind bars for up to 3 years, which translates into about 3 days in celebrity time.
