After a series of postponements, Lil Wayne’s prison sentence is finally in order. The 27-year-old rapper, whose real name is Dwayne Carter, pleaded guilty last year to attempted criminal possession of a weapon.
He was sentenced at the Manhattan Criminal Court on Monday and taken away in handcuffs to begin his term at an undisclosed city jail immediately. The Grammy winner’s lawyers plan to ask for protective custody out of concern for Wayne’s safety and health following his dental surgeries.
The good news is: he could be released in about eight months with good behavior. Be a good boy then, Wayne! There aren’t too many great rappers in the industry, so we need you back on the mic ASAP.
