Lady Gaga may be a fiercly original pop star, but let’s face it, her gig has become pretty predictable, put her in a situation, have her pose half naked in that situation and then move on. That was the case for her recent V Magazine shoot in which she posed as the statue of Liberty…half naked.
In the photo (shown above), she wears a lacy bra and Calvin Klein undies as part of a collaboration she undertook with famed designer Marc Jacobs.
That gown hanging off her half-naked body? That would be a Louis Vuitton evening gown.
In the issue of V magazine editor Stephen Gan says:
“Just as the Statue of Liberty was France’s gift to America, Gaga is, to us, New York’s greatest gift to pop culture and fashion,” while adding, “She embodies everything V is about, and is also a beacon of the city’s creativity and hope.”
It’s only been a year since Gaga last graced the magazines cover, here’s what Gan had to say about using her again so quickly to represent their magazine:
“Exactly one year after her first V cover (the first fashion magazine cover she was on), we decided to do the New York Issue, and she was the first person who came to mind to represent our great city,” also “In the year that’s passed, she has become a bona fide genius and we can safely declare her our muse.”
Genius? When it comes to drawing attention sure and I love her music, but there was nothing shocking or particularly unique about this photo shoot in my opinion, the whole “I’m Lady Gaga and I walk around half naked” thing is getting really old quickly.
