The cast of Jersey Shore will head to the shores of Italy for the 4th season of MTV’s top rated reality TV series.
MTV on Wednesday gave the green light for the new season and the far away filming location.
As you may recall, Italians and Italian-American’s once decried the show for it’s stereotypes of Italian culture, so it will be interesting to see how the cast is received when returning to their ancestors homeland. Oh wait, half the cast, specifically Snooki and J-WOWW aren’t actually Italian.
In a press release MTV said of the new season:
“America’s most talked about housemates are leaving the boardwalk behind for the piazzas of Italy. Poised to get their G.T.L. on abroad, ready to drop in on Vinny’s family for a famous Guadagnino dinner and excited to trade gorillas for Italian stallions, this wacky and dysfunctional family is about to turn ‘the beautiful country’ upside down.”
Producers began working on acquiring work visas for their cast and crew nearly two months ago, while location scouting in Italy has also been underway to find the perfect location to film the reality TV series.
Now Italian officials just need to allow the filming to commence, which could be an uphill battle given the negative light Jersey Shore has given to Italian culture.
