Jared Leto has taken himself to the extreme again by drastically losing half his body weight in a span of a month. Thin is in and definitely Oscar bait. Leto is giving Matthew McConaughey a run for his money.
But Leto is pretty much used to this Hollywood diet, he has starved himself before for a movie role playing a heroin addict in Requiem for a Dream. Back in 2007, he went to the opposite extreme and gorged himself fat to play Mark David Chapman in J.P. Schaefer’s Chapter 27.
Now he’s back to eating nothing again and looking anorexic, but the big difference now he also shaved his eyebrows to play a tranny in the film Dallas Buyers Club.
Leto says he started fasting the day he signed for the part. Jared Leto tells all in a Vulture interview: ‘I’m playing a transsexual woman. I didn’t get involved in the project until a few weeks ago, three and a half weeks ago. Your body goes through weird stages [when you’re fasting]. Sometimes it’s hard to hold on to water. But for me, it’s not about the most weight I can lose, it’s more to represent the character. I’m focused on what it means to be a transsexual woman.”
