James Franco is not afraid to go outside of the box to take on challenging roles. Including in those roles have been several LGBT characters, including his role in Howl and as Harvey Milk in the aptly titled Milk, now Franco is featured in drag on the Fall/Winter 2010-2011 cover of Candy Magazine.
The pictures (shown below) were taken by photographer Terry Richardson.
According to PopCrunch Candy Magazine is:
“the first fashion magazine ever completely dedicated to celebrating transvestism, transexuality, cross dressing and androgyny, in all its manifestations.”
The photo shoot shouldn’t surprise fans of the actor, he told The Advocate back in October that he liked playing roles “outside of the ordinary” stating:
“In this history of cinema, there are so many heterosexual love stories. It’s so hammered, so done. It’s just not that interesting to me. It’s more interesting to me to play roles and relationships that haven’t been portrayed as often.”
If you want to get your hands on the magazine which reaches newstands on Oct. 24 you’ll want to get out early, it’s a limited edition print with only 1,000 copies being sold.
