James Franco and Anne Hathaway have been tapped by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences to host the upcoming 2011 Academy Awards.
Oscar producers Bruce Cohen and Don Mischer said in a statement Monday:
“James Franco and Anne Hathaway personify the next generation of Hollywood icons— fresh, exciting and multi-talented. We hope to create an Oscar broadcast that will both showcase their incredible talents and entertain the world on February 27.”
They went on to add:
“We are completely thrilled that James and Anne will be joining forces with our brilliant creative team to do just that.”
On the other side of the coin, Hugh Jackman turned down the honor due to filming obligations with Wolverine.
James Franco is my favorite offbeat actors and no one can deny the adorableness of Anne Hathaway, hopefully they can capture the same type of magic last years due Steve Martin and Alec Baldwin brought to the stage.
The Awards ceremony will take place at the Kodak Theater in Hollywood on Feb. 27.
Do you like the combination of Hathaway and Franco?
