Filipina singing sensation Charice Pempengco will soon be walking the halls of McKinley High.
The singer will join the cast of Glee with a recurring role on the second season of the Fox comedy-musical.
Charice has been called the next Celine Dion by industry analysts and fans alike and her voice should add a whole new reason to watch the show.
It also doesn’t hurt Glee that Charice has become an internet sensation, racking up millions of video views.
She will play a foreign exchange student on the show who according to E! Gossip will:
“catch the eye of at least one Glee boy (shades of S.E. in American Pie), and the stank eye of one Ms. Rachel Berry.”
Charice tweeted the good news:
“It’s official. I’m on Glee (next season) but story behind it. When d rumor came out, it wasn’t true. But then after that; I tried to audition. And i made it!!! Let’s Party!!!!”
Charice just released her self-titled debut in the U.S. last month and celebrated her 18th birthday. It’s a late birthday present but also a cool addition to the Glee cast.
Here’s a video of her first official song release:
The second season of Glee will debut this Fall on Fox.
