Elizabeth Taylor, 78, was admitted to the hospital on Saturday after suffering from heart failure.
The movie star was watched her health falter, missing an appearance at the amfAR 25th anniversary event on Tuesday, an event where she was to be honored for her work with the AIDS research organization.
Sally Morrison, the long time friend and representative for Taylor released the following statement:
“Elizabeth Taylor was hospitalized earlier this week when she was taken to Cedars-Sinai suffering from symptoms caused by congestive heart failure, an ongoing condition. This issue is being addressed. She is currently being kept in the hospital for monitoring,”
Adding:
“Her family and close friends are appreciative of the warm support and interest of her loyal fans but have asked that people respect her privacy and allow her medical team the time and space to focus on restoring her back to health.”
In 2008 Taylor had a “leaky valve” repaired, but no word at this time if the same type of condition led to her recent heart failure.
