Baywatch actress Donna D’Errico is asking for “prayers from her fans” after falling ill with a very serious staph infection.
On Wednesday through her Facebook page D’Errico stated:
“Prayer request — this time for me — a serious medical issue has arisen. Thank you for any and all prayers.”
She is listed in “grave condition” in a California hospital with methicillin-resistant staphylococcus aureus, also known as MRSA. The virus is highly resistant to antibiotics and is often referred to as a “super bug.”
While typically targeted at senior citizens and sick individuals at hospitals, MRSA has been known to attack and even kill younger people.
D’Errico reportedly contracted the disease from a sick family member she was recently visiting in the hospital.
