Daniel Day-Lewis has signed on to play Abraham Lincoln in a new biopic by director Steven Spielberg.
The movie, simple named Lincoln is based on the Doris Kearns Goodwin book Team Rivals, which was turned into a screenplay by Tony Kushner, the same screenwriter behind Spielberg’s last docudrama Munich.
Spielberg said in a statement:
“Daniel Day-Lewis would have always been counted as one of the greatest of actors, were he from the silent era, the golden age of film or even some time in cinema’s distant future,” while adding, “I am grateful and inspired that our paths will finally cross with Lincoln.”
Filming begins in Fall 2011.
I just wish he was the one making Abraham Lincoln, Vampire Hunter. Now that would be a cool Spielberg flick.
