Although cosmetic surgery is a relatively common thing that is undergone by many different people, it seems like it’s made a huge deal when celebrities decide to go under the knife. There are many different reasons people undergo plastic surgery, each of which shouldn’t be judged by another.
The choice is up to the individual, and although fame does put more pressure on a person to look their best, it isn’t something that should have a stigma attached to it. Though some choose to have cosmetic surgery to reshape their nose, or enhance their breasts, others do so because they might have had illness or some other kind of misfortune that led them to make the choice to seek out medical help.
Here are examples of different celebrities who underwent cosmetic surgery for different reasons. Read their stories, and matter your opinion, it’s best to give them the benefit of the doubt. You never know what drove them to make their choice, and you just might want to evaluate why you think it’s such a bad thing.
Angelina Jolie
Though Angelina may not be the first you think of when you think cosmetic surgery, she did go under the blade, but not in the places you may think. Contrary to thought, her face is real…for the most part. There are speculations that Jolie has had work done on her nose, but as subtle as it is, she has always been beautiful and surgery only enhanced that.
The biggest way that Angelina underwent surgery was to have a double mastectomy performed. The actress found out that she was at a high risk for breast cancer, and since her mother died of ovarian cancer in 2007, Jolie decided to take no chances and had a preventative surgery done to rule out the option.
She has since had reconstructive surgery to replace her breasts, but nobody can judge her as this was a very brave step to take, especially considering she had to tell the entire world of her choice.
Meg Ryan
It does seem like there is a happy medium with cosmetic surgery, and it’s crucial to choose the right place to get it done, whether that means a place on your own body, or doctor wise. Some choose to get botox to give their face a slight, youthful lift. Others choose to address every orifice on their face, as was the unfortunate case with Meg Ryan.
It has been stated that Meg Ryan had cheek modification, eye surgery, a brow lift, and a neck lift, as well as lip implants and botox injections. Talk about a little work. Unfortunately for the actress, it proved to be a little much, and Ryan is rarely seen in new movies today. Whether that is due to her bad cosmetic surgery, or her own desire to not work as much, it’s proves that cosmetic surgery has it’s time and it’s place. It can be a blessing and a curse, so ponder wisely.
