Art is something to be enjoyed by the masses. It doesn’t matter your class, your family situation, your race, your religion, or your level of intelligence, art is out there to inspire, allow people to emote, and ultimately bring the generations together to experience a corporate oneness that isn’t experienced often enough.
While preferences and ideas of what is actually art vary from person to person, everyone can agree on the fact that everyone has their art and sees it as valuable. Each to his own, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. What is beautiful to you may not have the same effect on another, but it doesn’t negate the fact that it is beautiful in the grand scheme of things.
Many celebrities are masters of a certain form of art. This doesn’t mean they can appreciate another form. Park West Gallery is a fine art gallery that knows this to be true. They take pride in showing the varying creative genius of the world and they often have the biggest of names in to purchase a little slice of artistic genius to take home with them.
Though there is no shortage of celebs who collect masterpieces, here are some celebrities who love to collect fine art.
Leonardo D
Leonardo Da Vinci…or Leonardo DiCaprio rather, is well known for his love of fine art. Though he doesn’t have any Da Vinchi’s in his collection, he does own Salvador Dali originals, and Oscar Murillo originals. This quite impressive considering it takes a significant amount of money to own masterpieces created by artists of that magnitude.
It really comes as no surprise that DiCaprio collects…he’s one of the best actors and most artsy of souls in Hollywood. He is very careful about the roles he plays so he is probably just as selective about the art he collects. All in all, he really seems to appreciate the depth of personage that comes with creating a work of art.
Brangelina
Again, it comes as no surprise that Brad and Angelina are art collectors. This philanthropist couple has a wide love and appreciation for all of humanity, and with the money and position they hold in Hollywood, why wouldn’t they adourn their homes with the most beautiful works of art to ever be brought to existence?
Evidently, Brad is more about it than Angelina, who would rather the money be given to charity, but sometimes it’s okay to indulge. The couple owns a painting by Neo Rauch that apparently cost them a million dollars. One could see why Angelina would rather the money be reappropriated. Oh well, give the proceeds of your next movie away. That will make up for the difference and then some.
In the end, art inspires and brings people to another place. It’s likened to be a spiritual experience by many. If the rest of the world had the money, they too would probably buy it and decorate their homes with it. Alas, everyone must resign to viewing it in museum observatories instead of from their couches at home. What a bother.
