As pop star Selena Gomez drops her latest album Stars Dance today (which is amazing, by the way), we deem it’s only proper that we do a retrospective of her past hits, leading up to the latest goodies.
If you don’t have them by your iPod by now, take a look on her illustrious singles’ music videos below to know why we are so smitten with the pop princess:
1. TELL ME SOMETHING I DON’T KNOW
Even when Selena was still a fledgling Disney star, she was already showing spunk on her gigs on Disney soundtrack albums, especially on the lead single to her first movie, Another Cinderella Story.
2. FALLING DOWN
Forming a band, Selena Gomez & The Scene, they released one of their rockiest (if there’s such a word) singles to date, ‘Falling Down’. That incessant hair bouncing tells us she really had fun doing it.
3. NATURALLY
The Wizards of Waverly Place star turns the heat up a bit by giving the synth genre a try with ‘Naturally’, which became her first worldwide hit. The beat’s just as infectious as the common cold!
Gradually upping up the ante, not only did Selena get sexier, but also sleeker on her follow-up album. She has plunged totally into the techno-pop trend, and it helps that she’s gorgeous as a sleuth in Budapest on the accompanying video.
She officially cements her pop star status with ‘A Year Without Rain’, a sensual track that’s initially meant to be recorded by Rihanna. (No regrets here.) Nonetheless, her sultry vocals made the song her own, also making us long for “the one” like a year-long drought.
6. WHO SAYS
By the time she released ‘Who Says’ in 2011, she was already a household name. Now, Selena Gomez goes full circle by singing an inspirational anthem to all her fans in this theme song to Monte Carlo. ‘Who says you’re not perfect?’
She’s really good at these smooth pop ditties. ‘Love You Like A Love Song’ was destined to be a worldwide smash, as she fleetingly sings every imaginable comparison for love amidst her colorful costumes – like she was totally entranced by the Biebs.
After that roller coaster ride of emotion, ‘Selly G’ goes back to what she does best – having fun – on ‘Hit The Lights’, a carefree celebration of life, which makes us want to get some balloons too and throw them around without looking like dorks.
Currently ruling the airwaves, this Indian-flavored track is definitely one of Selena’s best: sexy gyrating, hot bhangra beats, and a catchy chorus. Once again, Rihanna must be having thoughts on passing up on this track. We’d love to come and get it!
10. SLOW DOWN
Selena Gomez continues with the pop goodness on her latest single ‘Slow Down’, where she subtly enters dubstep territory. In her newest video for the single, she rocks a Paris nightclub with her muy caliente presence as soon as she descends her limo. Indeed, the queen has landed!
