The world’s one funny person short once again as Joan Rivers bid goodbye at age 81.
“It is with great sadness that I announce the death of my mother. She passed peacefully at 1:17 p.m. surrounded by family and close friends. My son and I would like to thank the doctors, nurses, and staff of Mount Sinai Hospital for the amazing care they provided for my mother,” daughter Melissa Rivers says.
The unfortunate news came after the E! host experienced complications during a throat operation in NYC last August 28.
Rivers has had an illustrious career that started when she appeared on Johnny Carson‘s The Tonight Show in 1965. Since then, she has set everyone’s late-night TV habits on fire.
Who else’s saying goodbye?
