Pretty Wild’s Alexis Neiers Says She Didn’t Do Anything Wrong

Baby-faced Alexis Neiers, a star of E! Online’s Pretty Wild, might look pretty innocent, but she was recently sentenced to six months jail time for her part in a series of celebrity burglaries that included the home of actor Orlando Bloom. Neiers says she “didn’t do anything wrong.” Of course, that was to E! News. At first she had planned to defend herself and clear her name, but then she changed her mind and decided to enter a non-contest plea.

Hmm. Why do that if you’re not guilty? Just because Bloom was going to testify means nothing, if you’re truly innocent. Did he have a piece of damning evidence against her? Security footage from his premises, maybe? I guess Neiers expects E! hosts to believe her, since her reality show is on the same channel. Does she also think that if she covers her eyes with her hands that no one can see her? Alexis, if you really did do this and like a lot of other youth just didn’t want to take responsibility for your actions, just be glad you didn’t have to do the full six years in jail.

Tyra Banks Thinks She’s a Novelist Now

Can Tyra Banks ever shut up? I guess not, but at least she’s channeled that into a novel, to supplement her irritating talk show host role. Hey, it’s great to be positive, outgoing and persistent, but you just can’t do everything. Or you can, and can be mediocre. But about her novel, it’s called Modelland (“Model Land”), aimed at readers 8-80, and a mix of “fierceness and magic, romance and mystery, crazy and wild adventures, and yeah, some danger too.”

Wow, sounds really exciting. Yawn. Good luck and see you soon in bookstore remainder bins at $1. Meanwhile, us far better fiction writers will sit and cry into our vodka cranberry cocktails about another lost opporunity, and whine online about this travesty, that Tyra Banks thinks she’s a novelist now, and post about it on Facebook and tweet on Twitter.

Seriously, Random House is one of the top publishers, with tons of great writers. Why do this? Well here’s a hint: the book is from “Bankable Books.” What’s even sadder is that this is part of a three-book deal. Excuse me while I burn my stack of in-progress novels and hire some monkeys to write my next novel, to improve my chances of a publishing deal.

Come Dancing With Betty White?

Hot on the heels of Betty White’s hosting appearance on Saturday Night Live, it appears that she’s in demand, and that Dancing With the Stars (DWtS) wants her to come dancing.

Am I overreacting or are they crazy? Ms Betty is 88 1/2 years old (her joke from SNL). Do the producers at DWtS know anything about bone loss as people age, or are they only seeing audience numbers and the resulting dollar signs from sponsorships? Some of the dance sequences are far too vigorous, and even the party-happy Ms Betty might not be able to handle the workouts or keep up with younger contestants.

Excuse the morbidity, but I’d like to see her alive for her role in the new Hot in Cleveland sitcom. Some things just aren’t meant to be, and for her sake, I hope that she won’t do Dancing With the Stars next season, except maybe as a special guest host? That could work, and she could do one dance.

Orlando Bloom’s Burglars Busted

When Orlando Bloom’s home was hit by the Hollywood “Burglar Bunch”, he probably didn’t know that one of the accused would be Alexis Neiers, star of E! channel’s Pretty Wild. Neiers and a group of mostly teens burgled millions of dollars in clothing, jewelry, and other items from the residences of numerous stars, including Bloom, Paris Hilton, Linsday Lohan, Megan Fox and others.

According to E! Online themselves, Neiers is getting 3 months jail time, three years felony probation and a two-year suspended sentence. Her behavior will determine if she does additional time, and she will have to pay Bloom up to $600K, as well as stay away from him and his residence.

The other people involved in the burglary ring, Diana Tamayo, Courtney Ames, Nicholas Prugo and Roy Lopez were caught in late Oct 2009 and another, Rachel J. Lee, voluntarily surrendered. Neiers sentence starts Jun 24th. According to PopEater, Neiers could have faced up to a total of six years in jail, so I think she got off pretty lucky.

Not surprisingly, Iron Man 2 is at the top of the box office charts, with an estimated opening week haul of over $133M. That does not include the money earned overseas, which puts Iron Man 2 at around $327M worldwide at opening. (It was released overseas first in over 50 markets, before North America.) I think Iron Man 2 would be tops even if so much of what’s currently playing wasn’t so weak. Besides the graphics, Mickey Rourke’s villain looks pretty badass, and hot ScarJo (Scarlett Johansson) is dressed in leather as the Black Widow. What more could you want?

The reset of the top 5 this weekend, according to Variety, are A Nightmare on Elm Street, How to Train Your Dragon, Date Night, and Back-up Plan, from #2-5, respectively. If you’re looking for a slasher film to jump to every few seconds, Nightmare would be it. There’s really not much story that I can reveal without giving it away; it’s basically a slasher that’ll either entertain or bore you.

In upcoming flicks, Sir Anthony Hopkins is said to be negotiating a villian role in Arabian Nights (no word on a release date yet). Sir Anthony is very busy these days. He’s also in the 2010 flicks The Wolfman, You Will Meet a Tall Dark Stranger, The Rite, and Hemingway & Fuentes. In 2010, he’ll be playing Odin, daddy of Thor in 2011’s Thor.

Another person that’s pretty busy is producer Jerry Bruckheimer, who seems to be king of Hollywood these past few years, what with owning TV and making a dent in film. His IMBD profile has 18 films listed as in development, but there are five more tht are in various stages of production, including Sorcerer’s Apprentice, which is in post-production and comes out in mid-July. Already completed is Prince of Persia: the Sands of Time, starring Jake Gyllenhaal, which comes out May 28th. One of the in-development Bruckheimer films is a number three for the Bad Boys franchise. Will Smith and Martin Lawrence are signed on to reprise their roles.
