After playing the role of Roxie Hart in London’s West End production of Chicago in 2006, Ashlee Simpson-Wentz is taking it to the streets of New York. She is reprising the role of the merry murderess at the Ambassador Theater for a limited engagement that ends on February 7, 2010.

“I’m honored to be reprising my role as Roxie Hart, returning to the stage and joining this amazing cast,†she said on Playbill. “Being on Broadway is a childhood dream come true.â€
On opening night (November 30), the singer/actress joined the rest of the stellar cast, including Deidre Goodwin as Velma Kelly, Brent Barrett as Billy Flynn, and Roz Ryan as Matron “Mama” Morton. Let’s hope Simpson’s performance is a big improvement from her 2006 debut:
