On December 2 Aretha Franklin underwent surgery for an undisclosed ailment and now we have learned that she has returned home after a “highly successful” surgery.
Reports have circulated that Franklin is suffering from pancreatic cancer, however her reps have refused to comment on her medical situation.
Franklin underwent surgery at a Detroit hospital and was released earlier in the week.
In a statement Franklin said of her return home:
“I’ve been at home for almost three days now,” adding “My family and friends who brought me home are taking great care of me. I also have a private nurse who visits on a daily basis.”
Franklin appears to be in high spirits, stating:
“I’m hoping to be strong enough to go out and see the upcoming Sam Cooke play at the Music Hall in downtown Detroit before Jan. 2, as well as a performance of ‘Dreamgirls’ at the FOX before it closes.”
Franklin according to her reps will rest and then spend the holiday’s with her family.
We wish a happy and quick recovery to Aretha.
