American Idol Producers have announced that the audition age has been lowered to 15-years-old with new auditions starting in Nashville, Tennessee on July 17th.
With Simon Cowell leaving the show he made popular the new audition age is being seen as a way to attract more talent which will hopefully help keep the show moving along as TV’s number one property.
The previous age requirements were 16-28 and the maximum age is being left as is.
Here’s a full list of audition cities, their dates and their locations.
Nashville, TN – Saturday, July 17 – Bridgestone Arena
Milwaukee, WI – Wednesday, July 21 – Bradley Center
New Orleans, LA – Monday, July 26 – TBA
East Rutherford, NJ – Tuesday, Aug. 3 – IZOD Center
Austin, TX – Wednesday, Aug. 11 – Frank Erwin Center
San Francisco, CA – Thursday, Aug. 19 – AT&T Park
So what do you think? Is 15 too young? My biggest complaint is that American Idol judges are always telling contestants that their a bit young. Perhaps Justin Bieber fever has taken over the age limiting minds of the shows producers.
