That was fast, but the recently-concluded 2014 VMA was another one for pop culture’s books!
1. ARIANA + JESSIE + NICKI BANG IT UP!
Current mainstream darlings Ariana Grande, Jessie J, and Nicki Minaj gave fans a performance to remember as they stunned the world with “Bang Bang” as the awards show’s opener!
2. QUEEN BEY REALLY IS QUEEN
VMA gave a fitting tribute to queen Beyonce‘s illustrious career by having hubby Jay-Z and Blue Ivy hand over the Video Vanguard Award to her, right after performing her entire album!
3. MILEY’S DATE CAME IN LIKE A WRECKING BALL
Miley’s new man? Nope, that’s Jesse, one of the beneficiaries of myfriendsplace.org — an organization devoted helping out the homeless. He accepted the singer’s award for Video of the Year, a class act in itself.
4. NICKI’S ANACONDA POPS OUT
As if the raunchy video wasn’t enough, Nicki goes on and sings her controversial single “Anaconda” — and dances to it too! Her ‘anaconda’ almost popped out, but thankfully, the malfunction was reversed.
5. FIFTH HARMONY SCORES A VMA WIN
Fifth Harmony’s fate is sealed: they are now certified moonman winners of the Artist to Watch award, alongside the likes of Lorde, Katy Perry, and Drake. Talk about one good harmony!
