YouTube is trying to court celebrities to the video sharing website and it looks like they may soon begin paying celebrities to post videos on a regular basis.
According to internet rumors, the Google-owned site has been working with Hollywood talent agents to secure the services of their clients. As part of the deal celebrities will form their own YouTube channels and post videos as they deem fit. Celebrities will still own their content while YouTube would split revenue in some manner with those stars.
With 2 billion pageviews per day (approximate numbers) it shouldn’t come as a surprise that YouTube would want to give exposure to people their visitors know, while it could be great exposure for Hollywood’s top talent if they are someone featured on YouTube pages, including the company’s frontpage where more users find new content.
