Barbara Walters, who only just announced her heart valve surgery on this past Monday’s edition of The View, has already undergone the operation, Wednesday, and has been released. She’s said to be recovering quite well and her heart surgeons are pleased with the results. Her recovery period will be anywhere from 1-3 months, and she plans on returning to TV in the fall.
Eighty year-old Walters isn’t the only aging TV talk show host to undergo surgery. Regis Philbin, host of Live with Regis & Kelly and occasional host of Who Wants to be a Millionaire?, will go under the knife for a blood clot that appeared after a hip replacement operation last December. His operation will be next Tuesday. He’s previously had triple-bypass heart surgery in 2007. Good luck, Regis. The video below shows Regis’ sense of humor, where he appears on a Mad TV spoof of Millionaire.
