Calendar’s Ultimate Top 10 list names Celine Dion as the number one artist of the decade. Okay, with the hundreds of top-ten lists all over the world, what makes this list impressive?
According to LA Times, the Ultimate Top 10 is based on two of the biggest revenue sources—the artists’ album sales revenue and their rankings at the box office. Thanks to Celine’s five-year engagement at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, Celine earned $747.9 million the past decade. “[She] pulled in $522.2 million in concert-ticket sales for the decade. Adding $225.7 million worth of album sales during those same 10 years, she trumped all comers,” LA Times reported.
Number 2 on Calendar’s list is Kenny Chesney, who raked in $742 million, followed by Dave Matthews Band with $737.4 in earnings. The Beatles, who disbanded a long time ago, still managed to hit number 4 with $627.3 million in sales. U2 is number 5 with $609.7 million.
