How do celebrities stay so thin? For most, the secret isn’t so much the diet pills or
gimmicks, but the foods they eat. They know that keeping up a healthy diet of the right foods and participating in some particularly healthy habits can help keep them looking great and ready for the cameras.
Mike Kamo of Nutrition Secrets explains the celebrity diet simply when he says, “By ditching the sodas and sugar, and filling up with protein rich meals, healthy fats and complex carbohydrates, you’ll be on the way to a new, trim physique in no time.” It’s all in the foods they choose. Here are just a few of the foods they eat in order to stay slim and healthy.
1. Avocados
Miranda Kerr is a major advocate for this delicious vegetable-like fruit and all of its delectable perks. Avocados are packed with nutrients including potassium, lutein, folate, vitamins B, C, and E, fiber, and other great health benefits.
2. Almonds
Besides the fact that almonds are high in essential nutrients such as biotin, vitamin E, manganese, copper and fiber, they are also extremely filling. A handful can keep you felling full between meals, at least according to actresses such as Jennifer Anniston.
3. Dark Chocolate
Who says celebrities don’t indulge every once in awhile? They just do so intelligently with foods like dark chocolate, which is loaded with antioxidants and has been proven to help your heart. Heidi Klum says it’s one of her favorite healthy snacks.
4. Coconut Water
Not only does coconut water keep you hydrated, but it’s also a low calorie, delicious drink that beats soda any day. It’s also high in potassium, and is supposed to help your digestion and boost your metabolism. It’s a favorite drink of icons such as Rihanna, Madonna, and Demi Moore.
5. Fresh Fruits
Shailene Woodley tells fans that she loves the farmer’s market for its fresh fruits, which are loaded with essential vitamins and minerals. The nutrients in fruits are necessary for feeling great and keeping your body functioning properly.
6. Green Vegetables
Woodley also says that she likes to hit up the farmer’s market for fresh vegetables. Green vegetables have essential nutrients like iron and protein, which most people don’t get enough of in their diet.
7. Green Drinks
“I like the green juice because I don’t like vegetables,” says Miranda Lambert. “With the juice, I feel like I’m getting straight-up vitamins and good food. So if I don’t eat anything else green that day, I’ve got my green in.” A single tall glass of green juice or green smoothie can give you all of your vegetable servings for the entire day, which also provides the metabolism boosting ingredients and nutrients you need to stay slim.
8. Salmon
Many celebrities, such as Gwyneth Paltrow, claim that salmon with its high omega-3 fatty acid content is the reason their complexions are so clear and bright.
9. Edamame Beans
Edamame is an emerging superfood. It’s like a green soybean that you eat while still in the pod. Just a half a cup of these little beauties will give you 10 percent of your daily vitamin C and A. It’s also loaded with fiber and is low in fat. Victoria Beckham swears that edamame beans are the reason she stays so thin.
10. Lean Protein
Try lean proteins on for size when looking to shed a few pounds. Switching these out for fatty meats can make all the difference. Kate Hudson says she seeks out her protein from “rice, beans, lentils, beautiful salads, low-mercury fish, some nuts, blueberries and raspberries, and all sorts of vegetable dishes.”
11. Eggs
A couple of eggs cooked without oil seems to be the breakfast of choice for slim celebrities such as Chrissy Tiegen, Julianne Hough, and Carley Rae Jepsen. It’s a great source of lean protein that helps to keep you full between meals and reduces your desire to snack. Studies also show that those who eat a good, healthy breakfast are more likely to lose weight and keep it off than those who skip it.
We learn many things from celebrities, both good and bad, but perhaps the most beneficial is how to maintain a healthy diet. Every celebrity has a different trick for losing weight and keeping it off, but each of them could be equally useful in helping you take the necessary steps to shed the pounds and stay healthy.
